The main agenda of the meeting was to review completed and ongoing projects initiated by the Orengo administration across all the sub-counties.
Special attention was paid to roads, healthcare, modern markets, street lights and early childhood development centres.
In line with the “Nyalore” manifesto, Governor James Aggrey Bob Orengo has lately overseen the initiation and upgrading of health centers and distribution of medical equipment and ambulances to various Wards, the most recent being in Ugenya and Rarieda.
“We need these good things documented and even put on slides so that we can play for the doubting Thomases. We have to constantly show them what we have done within a short time like this,” said a participant at the meeting.
Mr. Walter Okello (above) outlined some of the crucial infrastructure and policies the Orengo administration has accomplished in the short period it has been in office, while (below) the state-of-the-art morgue at Bondo.
Under the stewardship of Orengo the county government has put up a modern morgue in Bondo beside completing the 20,000-seater world-class stadium.
Everyday roads are being tarmacked across the breath of Siaya County. Model ECD centres have virtually sprung up in everyone of the 30 Wards in the County.
Health centers have been upgraded with a guarantee of medical supplies. All the Beach Management Units in Siaya County now boast of modern fish bandas with refrigeration facilities.
The high-mast lighting project began by the previous administration has been expanded to cover virtually every village market. Modern markets have been constructed in all the sub-County headquarters.
At the heart of Siaya town an ultra-modern market project is under construction, jointly funded by the national and the county governments.
Water provision targeting perennial drought-prone areas of Uyoma and Sakwa have benefitted from the first phase of water boreholes and pans specifically dug by the county government.
The list goes on and on, not to mention the multimillion Siriwo Rice processing plant in Usonga and the new cotton ginnery in Madiany.
A participant at the meeting decried previous lack of publicity for county projects noting the recent change where masses were openly being briefed as the Governor meets his electoral promises.
Also present during the consultations was Chief Officer (Governance) Mr. Walter Okello, Director Governance George Okelo and the Director of Public Communications Mr. Chrispine Omondi.
The Orengo administration has furnished water outlets in schools, health centers and for direct public consumption.
The administrators were urged to keep open lines of communication and always be free to point out areas where there are grievances or the Orengo administration needs to make changes.
“This is an administration with service delivery to residents of Siaya always a top priority. Anything short of that will not be tolerated,” the CECM said as he closed the meeting, promising a subsequent follow-up in the not so distant future.
