On Monday Raila had a reception in his honour as he was welcomed back home by His Excellency Dr. William Samoei Ruto at State House Mombasa.

During the reception President Ruto maintained that despite the loss, Kenya remains focused on accelerating the momentum in building a united Africa with infrastructure as the cornerstone.

“We thank everyone who contributed to his campaign,” Dr Ruto said, adding “A special mention to the entire Africa for its show of solidarity and support to Kenya and Hon Odinga. We remain focused on accelerating the momentum in building a united continent with sufficient infrastructure to further intra-African trade.”

In Siaya, Governor James Aggrey Bob Orengo said the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party continues to play a crucial and prominent role in Kenya’s political landscape.

Mr. Odinga engaged with ODM local officials and youth representatives from across the county to discuss critical national affairs.

Despite his misfortune with ascending to the apex of leadership Raila’s remarkable influence has enabled Kenyans to enjoy the fruits of devolution, expanded civil liberties and life under a new constitution.

The doyen of Kenya’s opposition politics has indicated that he will be holding a series of countrywide public barazas across Kenya starting next week.

Also discussed with the Siaya Governor was how to strengthen the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party especially in its bedrock of Siaya.

The party was founded over two decades ago out of shared libertarian struggles of Kenyans and the relentless pursuit of a new constitutional order and today remains the single most popular political party in Kenya.

The meeting was attended by several notable figures, including the County Secretary Joseph Ogutu, several CECMs, the Speaker of the County Assembly of Siaya, His Eminence George Okode; the CEO of Siaya County Public Service Board, Mr. Wilfred Nyagudi; a number of Members of the County Assembly (MCAs); the Chief Officer for Governance, Administration, and ICT, Mr. Walter Okelo; and various Directors, led by the Director of Public Communication, Mr. Chrispine Omondi, alongside other senior county officials.
