The Public Service Commission has announced a vacancy in the Office of Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) following the exit of Ann Nderitu.
Ann Nderitu has been sworn in her new appointment as member of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
In a public notice on Tuesday, July 15, PSC invited qualified candidates to apply for the position.
Interested candidates should ideally hold a degree from a recognized university in Kenya and have knowledge and experience in either one or all disciplines relating to finance, management, political science, law, governance, and public administration.
Applicants should also have a minimum 15 years post-qualification experience in the relevant areas of expertise; have high moral character and integrity, and have satisfied the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Public Officer Integrity.
The registrar of political parties is mandated to oversee the registration, regulation, and supervision of political parties to ensure compliance with the Political Parties Act.
Other roles include administering the Political Parties Fund, ensuring the publication of audited annual accounts of political parties, and verifying and making publicly available the list of all party members.
The Registrar is also responsible for keeping and maintaining a register of members of registered political parties, as well as a register of political parties and their symbols.
Additionally, the Registrar regulates political party nominations per the Political Parties Act, investigates complaints received under the Act, and performs any other functions as may be assigned by the Act or any other written law.
PSC also announced a vacancy for the Assistant Registrar of Political Parties, who will deputize the Registrar.
Interested candidates for the two positions should submit their applications, together with a detailed curriculum vitae, a copy of ID/Passport, copies of academic and professional certificates and transcripts, testimonials, and any other relevant supporting documents.
According to PSC, the applicants should provide all the details requested in the advertisement.
“Applications should be clearly marked: – ‘Application for Registrar of Political Parties’ or ‘Application for Assistant Registrar of Political Parties’,” PSC stated.
The applications can be hand-delivered to the Office of the Secretary/CEO, Public Service Commission, 4th Floor, Commission House, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi.

“A person shall not be qualified for appointment as a Registrar or Assistant Registrar if the person has, at any time within the preceding five years, held office or stood for election as a Member of Parliament or County Assembly or as a member of a Governing body of a Political Party,” PSC added.
The deadline for applications is August 5, 2025, at 5:00 P.M.
