My name is Gabriel Macharia, and for a long time, I carried deep regret over the choices that nearly cost me my life. I was not always the person I became. But everything began to change when I reached Form Two, a time when peer pressure slowly pulled me away from the path I was meant to follow.

It started with small acts of rebellion, sneaking out of school, ignoring rules, and associating with people who did not value discipline or purpose. At the time, it felt exciting, like I was gaining freedom, but in reality, I was losing direction. Even during my KCSE exams, I found myself distracted, making decisions that I now deeply regret. My parents tried to guide me, warning me about the company I kept, but like many young people, I believed I knew better. I ignored their advice, convinced that I was in control of my life, not realizing I was slowly walking into destruction.

After finishing school, things got worse. I became fully involved with a group of friends who survived through crime. At first, I hesitated, but the promise of quick money and acceptance drew me in. My first real involvement was in a planned motorbike robbery, something I had never imagined myself doing before. Because I knew how to ride, I was given the role of escaping with the bike once it was stolen. Everything seemed simple in theory, but in reality, it was chaotic and poorly executed.
