The sarch for a missing University of Nairobi student ended yesterday in shock as his body was discovered at the City mortuary, Nairobi.
Second-year student Frankline Ondwari (below) went missing on July 17, 2024.
Ondwari was arrested at the beginning of the anti-government protests on July 16 then released on Wednesday 17th. He arrived at his house, plugged his phone to charge, and went out and never came back.
The family members got concerned when efforts to trace him became futile. No one knew exactly where he went to or what happened.
According to the city mortuary report Ondwari’s body was allegedly found hanging inside a washroom in an adjacent building near his rented house.
Police are said to have visited the scene and moved the body to the City mortuary where it was identified yesterday by the family members after a long search.
Meanwhile the anti-government demonstrations aimed at occupying the Jono Kenyatta International Airport yesterday had a comical twist. While the youth had intended to stop air traffic at the busy hub the police cordoned off the airport and made sure no aeroplanes landed or took off- in essence they accomplished exactly what the Gen Z wanted to accomplish.
A group of sponsored goons masquerading as bodaboda riders in the central business district were however not as lucky. They were spotted on camera receiving payment from a marked Range Rover tracked down by the demonstrators and beaten up senseless. Their motorbikes were confiscated and torched.
It is believed the government in despair is now sponsoring youth to sell pro-establishment propaganda online.
