STOP UNSUBSTANTIATED ATTACKS ON ORENGO PA

Our attention has been drawn to a set of accusations doing rounds on social media levelled against the person of Siaya County Governor James Aggrey Bob Orengo’s Personal Assistant, Fred Ojode.

It is not the first time that the PA is being subjected to malicious attacks by detractors. In June 2023 a series of claims bordering on fanciful speculations about the PA’s intimate orientation was made the subject of attack.

It took the Governor himself coming out to make a statement in favour of his PA at the burial of his kin that brought the rumour-mill to a standstill.

In the latest series of attacks it is claimed that Mr. Ojode engages in “skewed procurement to proxy contractors, irregular employment and promotion to cronies, widespread outrage and harassment of senior county staff, and backstabbing his boss while drunk.”

These serious allegations are made without proof and frankly are meant, yet again, to cause dissent between Ojode and his boss, Orengo.

Claims that the highly successful Piny Luo Cultural Festival and the inauguration of the hallmark Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium in Siaya were fraught with misappropriation of funds are inaccurate. The multimillion tenders involved were strictly run by open tendering and in any case the Kisumu County Deputy Governor Dr Mathew Ochieng Owili was the Chairman of the Management and Planning Committees.

The spirit of the purported exposé is in itself suspect as it begins by labelling Mr. Ojode as “the Rogue PA”. The handwriting of disgruntled elements opposed to the Orengo administration are evident in the claims.

Ojode has steadfastly stood by Orengo right from the days when he was still Senator.

What does the PA, as a person, stand to benefit if Siaya County hosts a Trade and Investment Conference scheduled for March, 2025, and one that was organized one year-and-half ago.

His detractors are claiming, sensationally, that Mr. Ojode is at the forefront of pushing for this conference which was scheduled by the Governor over one year ago. And if that is not ridiculous enough the wayward accusations claim the PA is responsible for the plight of the former CECM for Finance, who resigned in desperation and former CECM Water who was impeached on misdemeanor charges.

Is it possible for one person to disburse bursary to more than 300 students without repurcations or any supporting documents?

The underhand attacks could be directed to the Governor himself and Ojode is just collateral damage.

If, however, the social media attack has been launched by the fraternity of sangwenyas trying to get back at the PA, then let it be doomed. Ojode has acted fairly to the residents of Siaya particularly busybodies involved in social media.
