Police officers in Gikambura, working in coordination with Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officials, have arrested three suspects following the seizure of more than 1,000 kilograms of meat suspected to be from zebras.

According to authorities, the operation targeted illegal wildlife trafficking in the area, which has increasingly become a concern for conservationists. The seized meat was discovered during a raid, and investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the meat and the networks involved in its distribution.

The suspects are currently in custody, and police have indicated that charges related to illegal wildlife trade and poaching will likely be filed. KWS officials stressed the importance of protecting wildlife and called on communities to report any suspicious activity that threatens endangered species.

This incident highlights the persistent threat posed by illegal poaching and the ongoing efforts by Kenyan authorities to clamp down on the trade of wildlife products.
