
Police in Bungoma County are investigating a disturbing case of domestic violence after a man surrendered to authorities and admitted killing his wife following a suspected love triangle dispute.
The victim has been identified as 25 year old Metrine Wandera.
The businesswoman was allegedly killed at her matrimonial home in the Khaoya area of Bungoma South sub county.
According to police, the suspect is her husband Fredrick Wasike.
Reports indicate that after the incident, the suspect fled the area fearing retaliation from members of the public.
He later surrendered himself at Busia Police Station which is more than 100 kilometres from the scene.
Officers at the station recorded his confession before transferring him to Bungoma for further investigations and court processing.
In his statement to police, the suspect claimed he attacked his wife after allegedly finding her with another man in their matrimonial bed.
He told investigators that the confrontation escalated into violence, leading to her death.
Confirming the incident, police said the suspect admitted to committing the act at their home.
Western regional police commander Issa Mohamud stated that Busia based detectives initially questioned the suspect before handing him over to Bungoma officers.
He added that an autopsy would be conducted to establish the exact cause of death as part of the ongoing probe.
The case has renewed concern over rising domestic violence incidents linked to jealousy and marital disputes.
Police and local leaders urged couples to seek peaceful ways of resolving conflicts and avoid taking the law into their own hands.
