A young man in Nairobi has shared his painful experience after losing money while searching online for an older woman to support him financially.
The man said he sent KSh 5000 through M-Pesa to an agent who promised to link him with a wealthy sugar mummy. Instead, the deal ended in disappointment and loss.
The story was shared in a video posted by True Signal News, where the man explained how desperation pushed him into the situation.
He said he was short of rent money and hoped an older woman would help him change his life.
The man explained that he joined a site in search of an older woman who could help him raise KSh 9000 for rent since he only had KSh 6000.
He said he paid KSh 5000 to create an account with the hope of being connected to a wealthy woman.
He added that after realising he had been conned, he tried to follow up and contact customer care without success.
He further said there was another contact centre where he used to send emails but got no response.
He noted that either his money should be returned or he should be given the promised mumama, adding that he believed he would be in Amsterdam by now.
He also warned people against desperation, saying it could expose them to serious danger.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions online, with many Kenyans warning young people to avoid shortcuts to wealth.
Others urged the public to be careful with online agents and unverified platforms as cases of digital fraud continue to rise in Kenya.
