Kenya Power issued a notice informing Kenyans of a scheduled blackout on Thursday, April 11, 2024.
The utility firm in the notice on its website said that the power interruption is necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network.
“Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as here under: (It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power lines during construction, etc.),” Kenya Power said.
The utility firm noted that the Thursday power interruption will affect Trans Nzoia, Laikipia, Tharaka Nithi and Kiambu Counties.
Trans Nzoia
Parts of Trans Nzoia will be affected by an eight-hour blackout, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The affected areas include; Chorlim KWS, Kitum, Kaitet Coffee, Moss Farm, Cheptandan Dispensary, Tulwop, Kesis, Kokwo & adjacent customers.
Laikipia
Parts of Laikipia County will experience power interruptions from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
The affected areas include; Whole of Ibis Farm, Sirimon Mkt & Pri, KWS, GAW & adjacent customers.
Tharaka Nithi
Parts of Tharaka Nithi County will not have an electricity supply from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
The affected areas include; Komorock Hosp, Kathwana Mkt, Kathwana GVN Offices, Total Petrol Stn, Ntumbara & adjacent customers.
Kiambu
Parts of Kiambu County will experience power outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 am.
The affected areas include; Mungetho, Gachororo Juja, Kuraiha Est, Bravers, Kiaora Est, Mtaro Est, Kariki Est, Nchengo Coffee Farm, Azania Farm, Kijito Est, Bob Harries, Kirai Mkt, Mashule Est, Karakuta Est, Mutuma Est, Allan Dashi, Gachibi Coffee Est, Diana Farm, Eagands Est, Makwa Est, Oriti Est, Kihenia Est, Mangu Shopping Centre, Maryhill Girls, St. Francis Girls Sch, Karibaribi, Mwea Police Gatukuyu, Kairi, Kigio, Mirimaini, Kiaora, Mangu Rd & adjacent customers.
