A section of Siaya MCAs have termed Governor James Orengo’s two-years style of leadership as superb.

The leaders said the kind of development that was being witnessed at the grassroots level was not only boosting their development track record but also increasing their re-election chances.

Led by Uyoma North MCA Washington Booker Ngesa, the MCAs said during the era of ex-governor Cornel Rasanga, they invested heavily on water projects that benefitted thousands of people but Orengo’s strategy was overwhelming superb.

Cases of crocodile and hippopotamus attacks have significantly reduced in Uyoma because water can now be accessed more readily at various points. The leaders also pointed out the distribution of Sahiwal cattle to empower individual farmers.

“The dairy cow project has touched lives at the grassroots,” said Booker adding that every school in his jurisdiction got bursary and students enlisted in the schools were now  comfortably learning.

“Farmers from North Uyoma also benefitted from subsidized fertilizer, certified maize seeds, subsidized tractor services that boosted their agricultural production,’ said Booker adding that his people are not distressed over the possibility of famine anymore.

Booker said their predecessors who were voted out failed to meet the expectations of the electorate and those who were voted back to the assembly utilized Development opportunities prudently.

He asked rhetorically, “if in two years, we have achieved most of the promises we made to the electorates what will deter us from implementing the rest?”

He further urged Orengo to procure life jackets for fishermen and sort out the harassment pitying fishermen and cost guards.

“the cost guards have been harassing the fishermen to an extent of soliciting money from them. We want such businesses to come to an end,” he added.

Similar sentiments was echoed by West Uyoma MCA Justus Oguta who confirmed that water shortages that were the norm in his jurisdiction are no more.

“The hours that were used by our women to search for the precious commodity could now be used in doing business at the markets,” said Oguta.

“We are happy to announce that KES 17 million cotton machines are with us here at Madiany and so its up to Uyoma residents to plant cotton,” said Oguta.

Recently, Orengo had ordered overhaul of the faulty obsolete machines at Uyoma cotton store.

KES 17 million was factored in the supplementary budgets to procure new machines.

West Gem MCA Susan Okwiri said she had no reason to doubt Orengo’s development track record.

“Projects worth millions of shillings are visible in my Ward courtesy of the county government of Siaya,” said Okwiri have proved my worth and the developments my track record its clean and visible that’s why am not going to defend the seat but would use the voluminous trach record to seek for Siaya women representative position in 2027,” said the photogenic politician.

East Asembo ward MCA Gordon Onguru said that Governor Orengo will succeed in his re-election bid adding that those who could be a stumbling block jumped the sheep and joined UDA.

“The likes of Nicholas Gumbo who was defeated in the past gubernatorial race was only a force to reckon with if he was in ODM party and now that he joined UDA no more distress to Orengo,” he added.

Orengo’s administration has also procured and installed a KES 60 million Siriwo Rice mill in Isonga

“Orengo also injected millions shillings that has jumpstarted the stalling Siaya stadium,”

Siaya ODM leaders lauded the works being undertaken by Orengo in Siaya.

Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo, Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathews Owili and Migori Senator Edie Okech lauded Orengo for injecting resources to complete the 20,000 capacity stadium.

“these are the quality projects that should be witnessed from the backyard of Raila Odinga who is also the father of devolution,” said Owili.

Okech added that such projects encourage them to increase momentum towards pushing the state to release more resources to the County.
