There is public anger after a disturbing video showed a man sexually assaulting a mentally ill young woman who lives on the streets in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
The incident reportedly happened in the early hours of Monday, February 9, around Old Zenith Bank Road near Ibadan Road. In the video, the man walks up to the woman and forcefully exposes her breast, then puts his mouth on it. He is seen looking around and signaling toward someone off camera before continuing.
The woman tries to resist and pushes him away, but he continues despite her objection. The short clip has since spread widely on social media.
Local online platform Ijebu Rewa shared the footage, and many Nigerians have reacted with outrage, describing the act as sexual assault against a vulnerable person. Residents and social media users are calling on Ogun State authorities and security agencies to identify the suspect, arrest him, and ensure he faces the law.
Community voices are also urging government and welfare groups to increase protection and support for people with mental health conditions who are living on the streets, saying they are often targets of abuse.
