The Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula, on Wednesday led Members of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) in an emotional visit to Commissioner Johnson Muthama and his family following the sudden death of their son, Moses Muthama Nduya.
The young Muthama passed away last week after a short illness, sending shockwaves through political circles and the wider public.
In a deeply moving address, Speaker Wetang’ula urged the grieving family to remain steadfast in prayer and unity during what he described as one of the most painful trials any parent can endure.
“The loss of a child is the heaviest burden a parent can bear. Though we hope to be laid to rest by our children, God sometimes plans otherwise,” said Speaker Wetang’ula.
“Your Loss Is Our Loss,” Speaker Tells Muthama
Speaking as Chairperson of the PSC, Dr. Wetang’ula conveyed the Commission’s collective grief and solidarity with Commissioner Muthama and his wife, Senator Agnes Kavindu.
“Today, I am here with colleagues and staff from Parliament to convey our heartfelt condolences. Your loss is our loss, and your pain our pain,” he said.
The Speaker revealed that his friendship with Muthama dates back to 1984, underscoring decades of shared political journeys — from service in the Senate to their current roles as PSC Commissioners.
“We have walked long political paths together. It is only prudent that we comfort one another when such unfortunate circumstances strike our families,” he added.
Political Leaders Rally Around Muthama
Several PSC members and parliamentary leaders joined the Speaker in offering comfort and support.
Hon. Patrick Makau praised Commissioner Muthama’s steadfast leadership and influence both nationally and within his community.
“You are among our senior leaders, and we are here to stand with you as colleagues and friends,” said Makau.
Commissioner Faith Gitau encouraged the bereaved family to seek strength in faith, urging them to find refuge in God during the difficult season.
Also present during the condolence visit were Hon. Mwengi Mutuse, Hon. Joshua Mwalyo, Senate Clerk and PSC Secretary Mr. Jeremiah Nyegenye, and National Assembly Clerk Mr. Samuel Njoroge.
The untimely passing of Moses Muthama Nduya has left family, friends, and leaders across the political divide in mourning. Tributes continue to pour in, reflecting the deep respect held for Commissioner Muthama and his family.
As Parliament stands in solidarity, the message from leaders remains clear: in moments of grief, unity, faith, and compassion must prevail.
Further details regarding funeral arrangements are expected to be communicated by the family in due course.
