In a shocking night-time robbery, over 20 armed suspects raided a residential home in Kiamuthambi village, Kirinyaga Central, and dismantled a luxury Lexus vehicle worth an estimated KSh 35 million.
According to eyewitnesses, the gang arrived in two vehicles shortly after midnight. They first overpowered and tied up the house’s watchman, rendering him helpless as they forced their way inside. Once in the house, the suspects allegedly sprayed an unknown chemical substance into a bedroom, leaving the occupants unconscious and unable to resist.
Sources indicate that the robbers spent several hours at the scene, meticulously stripping the high-end vehicle of critical components. The operation reportedly continued from just after midnight until about 4am. Residents say that the victims only regained consciousness several hours later, around 9am, after being rushed to a nearby hospital.
Neighbors described the incident as “brazen and terrifying,” noting that such organized operations are becoming increasingly bold in Kirinyaga County. Some locals expressed fear that the criminals had prior knowledge of the household and the high-value vehicle.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the robbery, though investigations are reportedly underway. Police are appealing to anyone with information on the suspects or the stolen vehicle parts to come forward.
The incident has raised serious concerns about the security of high-value assets in residential areas and the capacity of local law enforcement to respond to large-scale, coordinated criminal operations.
