Passaris Confirms 2027 Makadara Bid as Aladwa Eyes Nairobi Governor Seat

Feb 24, 2026

Esther Passaris has officially announced her bid for the Makadara Member of Parliament seat in the 2027 General Election.

During a Monday morning interview on Radio47, Passaris indicated that she is transitioning from county-wide representation to constituency-level politics. She said she chose Makadara after evaluating her prospects and holding discussions with her party colleagues.

“I have decided to vie for the Makadara seat because I believe I can make a meaningful contribution to development in that constituency,” she said.

Passaris revealed that she originally considered running in either Westlands or Makadara. She ultimately chose the latter after the current MP, George Aladwa, indicated he plans to run for Nairobi governor.

“Both Westlands and Makadara presented opportunities. Aladwa had initially planned to go to Vihiga but later reconsidered. When I sought clarification, he told me he would instead be running for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat,” Passaris explained.

This latest announcement follows her November 22, 2025, statement, where she confirmed she would step down as Nairobi Woman Representative, a seat specifically reserved for women under affirmative action.

At that time, Passaris shut down online rumors regarding her future and debunked fake posters that claimed she had already picked a successor.

“By 2027, God willing, I will have completed two full terms as Nairobi Woman Rep. This is an affirmative action seat, and I believe it is time for another woman to lead,” she said.
