“He called me on Saturday night at around 11 pm and told me that they had been intercepted by occupants of a car with South Sudanese registration in Ndenderu” revealed Mr Njiru, adding”. “Immediately Njenga and his aide Felix Lakisha were bundled in a vehicle which sped off.”

Mr Njiru also revealed that the abductors had relieved Njenga and Felix of their cellphones. Although this was the third time the political leader who vied in the last Elections for the Laikipia Senatorial seat was being abducted, Mr Njiru said it was the first time the police had selected to maintain indifferent silence.

“The police reaction or lack of it is causing Maina Njenga’s friends and relatives unnecessary anxiety,” said the lawyer.

In July this year, a wave of anxiety gripped the family when the former Mungiki leader was detained in Kajiado County’s Oloosurutia neighbourhood together with his brother and personal assistant but later released without charges.
