An administration policewoman shot dead her husband on Saturday night following a domestic quarrel at their home near Eldoret town.
The couple is said to have been having frequent quarrels but last night, the woman on duty at the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) offices returned to the house where they were heard quarrelling.
Neighbours said they then heard gunshots which forced residents to flee for safety.
Some of the neighbours said the two fought before the gunshots were heard.
The couple has four children. During the incident, the children screamed for help as they fled from the house.
Uasin Gishu Police County Commander Benjamin Mwanthi confirmed the incident and said it was under investigation.
“The female officer is now in our custody and we are investigating the matter,” he said.
The assailant is said to have shot her husband with more than 12 bullets inside their house before she fled from the scene.
She later presented herself at the Eldoret police station where she was arrested and will be arraigned on Monday.
