BREAKING NEWS: Siaya Launches Parking Fee Charges in Efforts to Boost Revenue Collection

The revenue sector in Siaya has launched parking fee charges to boost it’s revenues.

According to Director Revenue Moses Keya, already marking of parking bays are done.

“ we had contracted a firm to undertake marking of the parks in Siaya, “ said Keya

Keya said that they have been charging transporting goods within the county but have now made a decision to extend to other vehicles.

“We are targeting vehicles for those who have returned home in this festive season ,” said Keya.

He added that they target KES 6 million from the parking fee adding that small vehicles(saloon cars) will be charged KES 50, Nissans and Mini-buses will be charged KES 70 and KES 100 respectively.

“Buses will pay KES 200 while trailers will be charged KES 500.,”said Keya adding that if daily charges is seen to be a challenge, we also have seasonal tickets.
Keya was attending the I duction workshop for staffs from Enterprise, trade and Industrial development.

He added that a total of KES 20 million as the target for liquor licensing while weight and measure unit has a target of KES 3 million.

Meanwhile Director Trade Chris Owang’ has said that KES 600 million has been allocated in this year’s budget to facilitate projects n the department.
Owang said that part of the KES 600 million will facilitate the industrial park.

“We are committed towards supporting earmarked projects. We have 61 ongoing projects including the installation of flood lights in the markets,” said Owang.

He added that Siaya SME’s were doing well in their innovative products and East African market were embracing their products.

“We will not tire to support Jua-kali artisans that have proved their worth through their products. They have lifted high Kenyan flag in East African region. Infact last year we were ranked the best and we retained number one at the just concluded Bujumbura trade fair.

The leaders were speaking during induction workshop organized by Enterprise Cooperative and Industrial development department.
