The Super Eagles of Nigeria have made a good account of themselves in the first half although one wonders why they are unable to penetrate the defence line of Equatorial Guinea.
The first fourty-five minutes have proved that all finalists in the tournament deserve their presence in the Africa Cup of Nations which should have been played in 2023 but owing to disruptions of the football calendar by the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic have been moved to 2024.
There are 24 national teams from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) battling to be crowned Kings of the Continent in the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations over the next month.

Led by head coach José Peseiro, the Super Eagles will be keen to right the wrongs of recent years after they failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Their most recent AFCON campaign was in 2019 when they finished in third place after a 2-1 loss to eventual champions Algeria in the semi-final.
Nigeria find themselves in Group A of this year’s AFCON, along with Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, and hosts Côte d’Ivoire.
