Details are yet to emerge on what exactly transpired for a Nairobi vegetable vendor (commonly known as Mama Mboga) to come into the phenomenal amount of KES 6 Million which she surrendered to televangelist Pastor Ezekiel Odero.

The incident widely reported on media outlets adequately leaves out important details as to when the transfer of funds took place.

A lot of ambiguity surrounds the statement by the woman who said:

“Pastor sijui nifanye nini ama niseme nini, nililetewa pesa, dollar za kutoka nchi za nje, na zilikua katika gari ya kijana wangu kama mimi nauza mboga, nlitoka mwishowe macid wakakuja wakaleta pesa, rafiki ya kijana, walienda kwa bank wabadilisha pesa ikafika millioni kumi, kumaliza wakakuja mahali nilikua nauza mboga wakanipatia millioni sita, wakenda na kijana wangu.”

Reports indicate she surrendered the cash on Sunday during televised church service at Pastor Ezekiel Odero’s New Life Prayer Centre in Kilifi County.

Following the outcome of events, the woman headed to the altar to seek the pastor’s assistance out of fear that the amount in question may have been proceeds of crime.

She also expressed fear of her son’s fate as she was unable to find her son.

The pastor vowed to hold the funds and keep them safe for the woman as she looked for her son. He also promised to provide security for her till the situation gets better.

“Hivi ndio tutafanya, I will keep the money safe for you. Go and look for your son, know his location and health status. I will give you a place to stay until we know the truth. My security will accompany you to record a statement. When the police want more details, we will comply so that the money can get back to its rightful owner,” Pastor Ezekiel Odero said.
