Wakili Fred Odumo Nying’uro recently paid a courtesy call on the newly coronated Luo Council of Elders Chairman Ker Odungi Randa.

The social call at Odungi Randa’s Boya home in Nyando, Kisumu County also provided the occasion for a review of the moral significance of Luo culture and traditions in the face of modern-day dynamics.

The Luo Ker challenged Wakili to be at the forefront of preserving and dignifying cultural practices.

“We must preserve and uphold the sanctity of our culture amid an assault by alien cultures thought to be yardsticks of modernism,” said the Luo Ker, adding “You, Fred Odumo Nying’uro and your generation bear responsibility for preserving that culture for the sake of posterity.”
