Nairobi lawyer Fred Odumo Nying’uro today held day long deliberations with officials of the Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party, Muhoroni sub-County in Kisumu County.

The deliberations focused on the need to revamp the party and upscale efforts for new membership recruitment.

Mr. Nying’uro also had the opportunity to get public participation and insights on improving his innovative development agenda for the larger Kisumu County.

As he arrived at the Masogo Hall, Wakili was received by the Muhoroni ODM Party Chairperson Vitalis Okuta who was flanked by the Women League Chairperson Mary Kayongo.

In her speech Ms. Kayongo caused laughter when she told all present the significance of banking on women both in politics and development.

“Women don’t cheat,” Kayongo said, “And the proof is right here before you. A woman gave someone a date and kept it that’s how we have all come to be here today.”

She further emphasized the need to empower the increasing number of young girls who were dropping out of school due to early pregnancies.

The Muhoroni ODM Party Youth Leader Mr. Odek said it was obvious among the youth who had an upper hand in the Kisumu Senatorial race. He emphasized the need to support Wakili Fred Odumo Nying’uro as a candidate who had the interests of the party at heart.

Fred Odumo Nying’uro reiterated his earlier calls to expedite his time and resources in revamping the party in Muhoroni sub-County and the greater Kisumu County as a whole.

Wakili called for sobriety in the next General Elections and promised to work with party officials at all levels.

In turn the party officials promised to work hand-in-hand with Wakili to realize his goals.

The Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party countrywide recruitment drive which was launched at Awelo Market, Siaya County by party leader Raila Amollo Odinga in November last year will end on 24 March.

Kisumu County has already made an undertaking to lead the country with the highest new membership numbers. Speaking about this resolve Governor Peter Anyang Nyong’o said:

“We have no any other choice but to occupy the first place in terms of membership. Let’s strengthen our party and move forward together.”

He was speaking at a meeting with all Kisumu County ODM Party officials early this year.

Nyong’o was accompanied by his Deputy Mathew Owili, MPs Joshua Oron (Kisumu Central), Aduma Owuor ( Nyakach), Rosa Buyu ( Kisumu West), Onyango Koyoo ( Muhoroni), James Nyikal ( Seme) and Ruth Odinga (Woman Rep). Also present were Elisha Oraro (Speaker) and a host of MCAs.

Today the Muhoroni sub-County ODM Party leaders made a resolve at Masogo Hall that they will continue recruitment with the singular aim of becoming number one in Kenya.
