Alego-Usonga Member of Parliament Samuel Onunga Atandi today commissioned gate and fencing projects completed by NG-CDF funding in various schools in the Constituency.

Long known for painting and refurbishment of classrooms constructed by his predecessors, Atandi has now come out to construct something to completion. This includes his flagship school project of Karapul Model Primary School which is running down from model status owing to poor maintenance.

At Sirinde Primary School in West Alego Ward, Atandi reiterated his earlier assertion that he with be gunning for the position of Governor in 2032. While speaking during the disbursement of NG-CDF bursaries at Sidok Primary School last year Atandi caused backlash from the public when he attacked the Siaya Deputy Governor Dr William Oduol Denge saying there were other sons of Alego who had ambitions of being Governor.

Atandi also spoke about the upcoming delimitation of boundaries if a report by the National Dialogue Committee to be tabled in Parliament tomorrow becomes a Bill. There have been proposals to split
Alego-Usonga Constituency into two creating a new Southeast Usonga Constituency. He did not tell the public that the function of administrative boundaries delineation was completed last week and only Gem Constituency in Siaya benefitted.

He told the gathering that Raila’s appointment to the African Union Commission will not take him away from ODM.

“Raila will always remain as our leader no matter what new engagements come his way” Atandi said, adding “Raila will not retire from politics because of appointment to the AU Commission.”

The Alego-Usonga MP also reminded parents that under his auspices the NG-CDF will now pay KES 8,000 for the 22,000 students in day secondary schools in the constituency.
