The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs and Defence in the National Assembly, Nelson Koech has raised pertinent concerns about the authenticity of the ongoing abductions.

This photo taken less than an hour before we posted this article shows now famous silhouette cartoonist Gideon Kibet interacting with villagers at his home in Rift Valley. He has no visible signs of trauma either physical or emotional. Photo | X

Koech urged investigative agencies to dig deeper into the matter, warning against the potential exploitation of such narratives to create political or social unrest.

“We cannot allow misinformation or staged events to disrupt national unity,” said Koech who wondered why all the abductees released on Monday 6 January 2025 looked exceptionally healthy and even spent hours dancing at “disco matanga” before catching a bus home.

The allegations and counterclaims that the abductions could have been stage-managed has sparked heated debate online. While some citizens believe the incidents are genuine and point to gaps in national security, others support Koech’s assertions, viewing the events as a possible ploy to undermine president Ruto’s administration.

The story of Kibet Bull—claiming to have partied the night away in Luanda—has only added to the intrigue, further challenging the abduction narrative.

To add on to the confusion vocal social media commentator Maverick Aoko has revealed that while in captivity the abductees were fed dextroamphetamine, a drug, which allegedly in time causes memory loss, hallucination and speech disorders.

While governments, the world over, are known to unleash components of biological warfare on important critics, its possible this government may have chosen to go a similar route. What may not add up is whether the cost of administering such expensive weapons on a bunch of youth is economically viable .

Yet another silhouette cartoon has surfaced of someone with an egg-shapped head (inference made to a certain State House operative known to be a digital guru) manipulating the social media account of Gideon Kibet also known as Kibet the Bull.

While the public eagerly awaits clarification from authorities, Koech’s comments underscore the pressing need for transparency. Who abducted these individuals? Who facilitated their release? And why does their behavior and appearance contradict the expected signs of distress?
