The killer reptile had been terrorising villagers, as it killed two people in two years while attacking and maiming several others.
In mid-January, 2025 the killer crocodile grabbed a woman who had gone to draw water and ate half of her body before fishermen rescued the other half. The remains of the woman were interred last week.
Earlier today the reptile, following a trench in a farm next to Lake Victoria, sneaked up on a farmer and was about to devour him when the commotion drew the attention of fishermen and villagers who cornered the animal on dry land.
It took an hour of constant beating with all manner of crude weapons to subdue the animal.
Police and the local admininistration confirmed the incident saying the killer animal had been a cause of great terror in the vicinity of Kopiata.
The villagers cut up the man-eater crocodile and others slashed up body parts to be used in witchcraft.
The reptile weighed about 300 kilogrammes and was over eleven feet in length.
Meanwhile, in the nearby Kolo Beach police recovered the body of an unidentified middle-aged man who wore a t-shirt emblazoned Nyakach Girls. Police have moved the body to the morgue pending identification and notification of next of kin.
