Kelvin Kiptum has won the Chicago Marathon in a new world record time of two hours and 35 seconds on Sunday to smash Eliud Kipchoge’s previous record of 2:01:09 set in the Berlin Marathon last year.

Until Sunday, Kiptum was the second fastest marathon runner of all time after none other than the G.O.A.T. Kipchoge.

His previous personal best time of two hours, one minute and 25 seconds – clocked in April this year in London – was just 16 seconds outside Kipchoge’s 2:01:09 world record conjured up in Berlin last year.
