The CS said the region has embraced the president and will not abandon him come 2027

The CS said on Sunday that the region will stand with Ruto because he has proved that he cares for the region despite voters in Nyanza overwhelmingly voting for Raila in 2022.

”This time round, we shall not abandon Ruto, when he goes up we go up with him and when he negotiates a corner we negotiate with him,” Owalo said.

The CS said the region has now embraced Ruto because of what he termed as the president’s big heart to accommodate and develop Nyanza irrespective of how it voted in the last polls.

β€œAs a region, we will support the Kenya Kwanza administration now and even in future because Dr Ruto has proved to us that he is focused on developing the region,” said the cabinet secretary.

Owalo spoke at St. Philips Rakombe church of the saviour in Rarieda Sub County where he was joined by Uasin Gishu governor, Jonathan Chelilim Bii in a thanksgiving ceremony.

Owalo said the region has benefited from many development projects and appointments in state agencies that he said are part of the positive impact on the locals.

”For now, we shall not do any politics, in fact, the only politics we shall engage in is that of development,” said Owalo.

He said that the Kenya Kwanza government was committed to developing the country without discrimination, adding that the time for politics was over.

Owalo said that President Ruto had appointed 128 sons and daughters of the Luo nation, an achievement he said has never been witnessed in past governments.

Uasin Gishu governor, Jonathan Bii said history was on the verge of repeating itself in the next general election when he predicted the Luo nation will be united with the Kalenjins as in 2007.

He gave an example of the political arrangement between Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto, then deputy president in 2013, as testimony that there is no permanent enmity in politics.

”During the post election violence you could not imagine that the Kalenjins would work with the people of Mt Kenya, right now we are working together,” he said.
