Azimio leader Raila Odinga has consulted widely over his bid for the African Union Commission post.
According to Siaya Governor James Orengo, Raila has never missed any steps he undertook and so the AU post is another strategy to re-organise himself for other fruitful political ambitions.
Orengo said he shall join Raila’s campaign team for some two months to do comprehensive strategies that would see him succeed in his ambition.
Orengo was speaking during the burial of South Gem Youth Leader Aggrey Okoth Ombe.
“Our leader Raila is yet to hold another big position in his life and the best thing we can offer him is support so once have rolled out development programmes for Siaya would excuse myself to campaign for him Nationally,” said Orengo.
Orengo further ruled out speculations that Raila’s new job would deter him from engaging in Kenyan politics.
Raila cannot and will not a and on his people. He has a right in the constitution to contest for the presidency or tell off the president in case he goes overboard or distresses Kenyans with unnecessary taxes.
Similar sentiments were charged by Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo, Alego/Usonga MP Samuel Atandi and County Women Representative Christine Ombaka saying that Raila will still be the leader of the ODM party and Azimio.
Otiende said it’s the African Presidents that are demanding the services of Raila and not being fronted by President William Ruto as claimed by certain politicians.
“We are privileged as Luos that we get recognition even outside Kenya. Raila’s AU post will not stop him from contesting for the Presidency. some Kenyans think he has left a vacuum.
Ombaka assured the public that they will support initiatives that will popularise UDA in Nyanza.
The ruling government is burdening Kenyans with over-taxation through affordable housing and they think by Raila going for Africa job would work to their advantage, they are daydreaming,” she added.
Ruto will not hoodwink especially those in Nyanza to back his bad policies that ravaged the country’s economy. He has tried to win the hearts of the Luo Community through freebies and fresh food but it has not worked.
“As Nyanza Counties, we cannot make the mistake of allowing candidates supported by UDA outfits to sail through that would be a disappointment of the highest order,” said Atandi.
We shall curtail efforts for UDA to thrive. Here in Siaya even Former Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo who contested for Siaya’s gubernatorial seat and lost should prepare for another disappointment in 2027.
“We don’t have any candidate that can replace Orengo,” said Atandi.
