Several people have been left nursing serious injuries as two matatus collided along the busy Haile Selassie Avenue in Nairobi on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

The accident comes only hours following a another one in Voi where 11 students from Kenyatta University died when the bus they were travelling in rammed into a trailer.

Early yesterday 5 people died in yet another accident in Olenguruone while on the same day 12 people were in a road crash on Kuja Bridge in Migori County.

Kenyans have begun to raise concerns owing to the surging number of road crashes, deaths, and injuries in the past few days with several conspiracy theories being advanced.

Meanwhile, police in Nyeri are investigating an incident where a lorry allegedly run over an officer from the Kenya National Highway Authorities.

The report largely circulated on social media indicates that the lorry had been stopped by the officer along the Nyeri – Nanyuki road, the driver hit and killed the deceased before fleeing from the crime scene.

A report on vernacular radio station Kameme FM has stated that the suspect is being sought after by the police.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki today admitted that the rising numbers of road accidents are already a menace.

Kindiki spoke after the deaths of 11 students from Kenyatta University who were killed in a tragic road accident involving a bus and a trailer in Voi.
