Business at Siaya Law Courts on Tuesday ground to a standstill as Governor James Orengo received members of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

The team is on a round of courtesy calls  across the country to strengthen partnerships with counties in areas of common interest.

Normal court business for the morning session was entirely disrupted and a few cases were slotted for mention and hearing in the afternoon.

On June 15, 2023 Chief Justice Martha Koome renamed the soon-to-be completed modern court building at the heart of Siaya town Argwings Kodhek Siaya High Court.

A request had been made by Siaya Governor James Orengo and Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Otieno Amadi to rename the court in honour of Kodhek whom besides being East Africa’s first black barrister was also Gem Constituency’s first Member of Parliament.
