DCI Receives State-of-the-art Equipment to Help Track Drug Traffickers

Earlier today, DCI’s Anti-Narcotics Unit received state-of-the-art equipment from the United States through the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) & the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to boost its capacity in the fight against drug trafficking.

The donation comes a day after 131 forensic experts graduated from different strategic courses that were sponsored by the International Criminal Investigative Assistant Program, an initiative of the United States government.

While receiving the equipment, the Director DCI Mr Mohamed Amin expressed his gratitude to the United States government through the two agencies, INL and DEA for the kind gesture adding that the facilities will go a long way in the development and implementation of the necessary architecture for international drug control.

“Allow me to express my profound appreciation to the INL through DEA for the provision and supply of the new equipment that is handed over to us today. This equipment will go a long way in enhancing efficiency of the Anti-Narcotics Unit in execution of its mandate.”

The INL Director Kevan Higgins lauded the joint collaboration and reiterated the INL’s commitment to support the Directorate’s mandate of bringing drug syndicates to their knees noting that such is a global security concern.
