Nairobi businessman Martine Otieno aka Mijesh on Sunday night brought activity in one of Siaya’s most popular WhatsApp groups County 041 to a standstill when all attention was turned to singing praises to his philanthropic endeavours.

The contractor shockingly united the forum as those who have been taking antagonistic sides on debate unanimously agreed that when it comes to generosity, the Son of Bibiana is in a class of his own.

The businessman is known to come through for the youth especially when they are in a fix, as they often are, either with serious issues involving police or simple issues of purchasing data.

Although Mijesh has not openly stated whether he will be vying for political office come 2027, he is the only individual in Siaya whose generosity is said to eclipse that of a senior politician variously known as Wuod Nyamayanga and Wuod Athiende.

Normally Siaya politicians are known to be stingy beginning with the senior-most to the local Ward Representatives but Martine Otieno seems to be playing on a different league.

During the WhatsApp group discussion that went on for hours before Ivory Coast stopped Nigeria’s chest-jumping, it emerged that almost everyone in the group that has over one thousand-two-hundred members has,at one time or another, interacted with an Mpesa message from Mijesh.

Some said he was the Maina Wanjigi of Siaya, others urged their comrades to make good this coming Valentine by impregnating their spouses and naming the outcome after Mijesh.

Thinking that this type of praise was too much hype DalanewsKe took off on a trail to investigate the truth. Shortly before midnight our investigations came to an abrupt end. The internet was interrupted by a message from the popular Safaricom wire money transfer service.

And that message was certainly not from Mijesh. End of story.

Lesson: Some people are good enough to be true.
