The government has scheduled a pay raise of up to 40% for all cadres of police officers starting end of July.

Sources revealed that this is part of ongoing reforms in the National Police Service to align salaries with other government employees.

Meanwhile, police in Busia are investigating the death of 3 people who died during a grisly road accident that occurred on the first day of January 2024.

Two people who were travelling in a personal car died on the spot when they were crushed by a speeding light truck on the Butula-Bumula Road.


Eyewitness reports indicate that the truck driver was accused of negligence by onlookers who pelted him with stones resulting in the third death.

In other news, former Premier Raila Amollo Odinga has scoffed at President William Ruto for incessantly blaming the Opposition for his failures.

Speaking at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, Raila reacted to the President’s New Year address and said that Ruto should stop blaming the opposition for everything.

The president had roundly blamed the opposition for undermining his efforts to speed up change in various sectors of the economy.
